University of Plymouth Expertise Database

The University of Plymouth along with Gusto Creative Ltd, approched Hexydec Ltd to produce an intranet application for the staff of the University to be able to search for and manage contacts with specific areas of expertise.

Using Hexydec Framework and our bespoke CMS Framework, we developed a search engine and set of contact management applications to enable searching of a database by keyword, location and expertise.

The iinerface uses an AJAX control to select and refine expertise groupings for searching the list, a detail view displays full contact information and details of their area of expertise, along with links to searches within other associated expertise categories.

The system is secured with Hexydec Security System so administrators can control who has access to the system and control edit permissions.
