The original language of the World Wide Web, I have been working with HTML since 1997 when I started building websites using Microsoft Frontpage. It didn't take long from finding the limits of Frontpage and editing some of the code it produced, to ditching it altogether and just writing the HTML by hand, which I still do today (Albeit with the help of my IDE).

These days it is all about semantics and marking up tags with meta data, aria tags, and programmatic hooks such as ID's and data tags to transfer JSON to front-end JavaScript code.
